Emu Park National Events

As a small coastal town in the Capricorn Coast region of Queensland, Emu Park has its fair share of locally celebrated events, as well as becoming a popular destination for some of Australia's most significant annual events.

1. Emu Park ANZAC Day Dawn Service
Every year on April 25th, Emu Park pays their respects to the servicemen and women who have fallen for Australia in service and commemoration of the ANZAC campaign. The day begins with an emotional dawn service at the Emu Park war memorial, followed by a march and ceremony at Bell Park near the beach.

2. Emu Park Fishing Classic
For the past 26 years, the Emu Park Fishing Classic has been a popular event for anglers who come from all over Australia to compete for cash and prizes. The competition spans five days with hourly weigh-ins and categories such as estuary, reef, and rock fishing.

3. Great Emu Park Duck Race
The Great Emu Park Duck Race began in 1999 and is now one of the town's significant fundraising events. Thousands of rubber ducks are adopted, and on the day of the event, the ducks are set free into the Emu Park creek where they race towards the finish line. Participants whose ducks cross the finish line first win prizes.

4. Capricorn Food and Wine Festival
The Capricorn Food and Wine Festival occurs every September in the surrounding region of Yeppoon and Rockhampton. The event attracts local and international celebrity chefs, as well as wine connoisseurs and gastronomic tourists. The four-day celebration features food stalls, cooking demonstrations and tastings, and workshops.

5. Yeppoon Running Festival
The Yeppoon Running Festival, although not in Emu Park, is a popular annual event that still attracts many participants and spectators from the local community. The event includes a 10km, 5km, 2km, and one-kilometer dash for kids, with participants running from the Yeppoon foreshore to Emu Park and back.

6. Emu Park Lions Den Markets
Every third Sunday of the month, the Emu Park Lions Club hosts the Emu Park Lions Den Markets, which has been operating for over 20 years. The markets offer a range of stalls, from fresh produce to handmade crafts, and attracts a variety of visitors.

7. Beef Australia
Although not an event held within Emu Park itself, the town's proximity to Rockhampton, which hosts the Beef Australia festival, makes it an essential local event for many residents. Held every three years, Beef Australia showcases the best of the Australian beef industry, bringing together farmers, meat manufacturers, and consumers alike.

Emu Park is a small but significant town that hosts a range of events for locals and visitors. From fishing and running festivals to food and wine showcases, there is always something happening that brings the community together and celebrates the unique spirit of Emu Park and the surrounding region.
